Exclusive Resorts: Cayman Islands

Within 4 hours of landing in Grand Cayman, I’m wearing linen draw-string pants, a white tank top, and my skin is glowing from the inside-out. If I may inappropriately attribute an obnoxious hashtag to this moment where my soul rests in luxury: #bliss.

Sleep.

Highly recommend doing this as a luxury trip with a group of friends (who have relatively good jobs) and renting one of the 4-bedroom villas on the Ritz-Carleton property. Between 2-3 couples, the price ends up being seriously reasonable for a high-end place that includes your own infinity pool, spacious living room, and gorgeous kitchen. I booked through the private vacation club: Exclusive Resorts – they stocked up the fridge using my requested grocery list before I checked-in, and there was even an option to hire a chef who would cook all meals in our private villa. Villa life was exceptional!  And no surprise, ranked on Conde Naste Traveler Gold List 2014, and Travel+Leisure: 500 of the Worlds Best Hotels 2014.

Cool Perk.

Villa guests get their own golf carts to whip around the property in.

Sports & Adventure.

Snorkeling

Schools of fish swim around you while scoping out coral reef and some very scary eels!

Golf

The Ritz-Carleton property is home to a sexy golf course designed by Australian pro-golfer Greg Norman. If you don’t know who he is watch this video.  It will make playing his course that much cooler. We bought uppity collard Ritz golf shirts for fun, rented our from the club house, and played a relaxed round. And we weren’t the only ones enjoying the course – apparently it was iguana-mating season! Hey, I did say it’s a sexy course.

Boating

Spend the day on a yacht for an extra cost (very affordable between your group of 4 or 6) suntan on deck, pop champagne, ball like Jay-Z and Beyonce… yup, #bliss.

Eat & Drink.

Andiamo

An Italian restaurant on hotel property – the food is served alfresco (as in, you are served while the wind hits blows through your hair, and the smell of fresh foliage and sound of winding waterways are a stone throw away.) Best of all, they offer gluten-free options!

Calico Jacks

A local (kinda dirty, very beach-y) party spot to grab a martini, watch a sports game, and overhear conversations of drunken international med school students who are living/studying on the island.

Local Wildlife.

Stingray City

Our personal concierge, at Exclusive Resorts, booked us a private Yacht that came with our own Captain (cool, older, Italian fellow!), and lunch. We brought our own white wine (no red allowed on the ship!) and sailed out to Stingray City. Being up close to the sting rays was incredible, but the location was overcrowded and I have mixed feelings about the whole experience. Read more about the stingrays in Grand Cayman here.
